about

about me

I am a German-British cinematographer based in London. I received Best Cinematography nominations for four of my short films. My debut feature 'Revolutionart’ won Best Narrative Feature at Liverpool Underground in 2020, my second narrative feature, “Nachtwache” (“Nightwatch”) won at Macon Film Festival. The short film “A Fox in the Night” was BIFA-nominated and BAFTA longlisted, and my third feature is currently in post-production.

I am drawn to projects that champion underrepresented voices, that resonate with my queer and female perspective, and teach me something new. These films often address social issues at the heart, questioning and challenging society and the status quo. This leads me to explore not only narrative but also documentaries and experimental projects.

Weltverbesserer - “world improver”

I love and am fascinated by light. As a child, I tried to save beautiful views to my imaginary camera roll by closing one eye and looking through my hand, which I held in a slightly opened fist up to my eye. But only going to Iceland to live and work for half a year made me realise how much photography means to me.
My drive into film and art was always the urge to somehow make the world a better place. And I am grateful that I found that my way of doing it is interpreting stories in light and movement, and helping audiences feel deeply connected to the characters.

In 2012, I began working as an intern at a rental house in Munich, Germany. Working my way up to second camera assistant, and beginning to film projects as DOP on the side, until it was time to knuckle down and focus on Cinematography. I decided to move to England and study a Master's in Cinematography at the National Film and TV School. Now I have bases in both countries, a German and a British Passport, and experience filming in the US, the Caribbean, Europe, and the UAE.

I am a member of Illuminatrix Rising, a collective of female Cinematographers in the UK, Cinematographinnen, a collective of female Cinematographers in Germany, and BAFTA Connect.
